Get ready to have your mind blown! First, go read Spare Parts with your kids and then watch the movie. They tell the story of a Phoenix high school teacher who led a team of four low-income undocumented high-schoolers to victory in a collegiate underwater robotics competition, beating the reigning champion, MIT! The teacher, Fredi Lajvardi, went on to found the Si Se Puede Foundation, which helps underserved youth develop proficiency in robotics, manufacturing, 3D printing, and electronics in an inclusive, challenging, and creative environment.
We will hear from Fredi, tour the 5,200 square foot facility, and learn about all of their manufacturing equipment. We will observe and hear from the robotics teams that practice in the building. This will be an inspiring experience for you and your kids, promise!
