Art

In each art lesson students will develop foundational art skills using a variety of materials including acrylic paint, watercolor, chalk pastels, oil pastels, and charcoal.  We will focus on drawing, proper brush technique, color mixing, and blending strategies while promoting creativity and confidence. Art sessions will be differentiated based on the age groups and student interests (see below).

Art for K/1: We will prioritize lessons based on the elements of art. Students will use a variety of mediums, focusing on becoming familiar with each tool. We will value the process over the product so that students can develop their confidence and creativity.

Art for 2/3: We will combine process art exploration and foundational art techniques through multi-step mixed-media art projects.

Art for 4/5: We will combine mixed-media art projects and fine art lessons, incorporating a variety of art skills with art history.

Art for 6/7:  These will be fine art focused lessons, often referencing an art master and specific art technique.
